As the first golden leaves drift from their branches and the morning air takes on a subtle crisp bite, fall arrives like a quiet revolution. It is a season of transition—of long overdue endings and vibrant, fresh new beginnings.
Fall has always been a metaphor for change. Trees shed what no longer serves them. Animals prepare for long winters. The sun lingers a little less each day. And as the weather gets cooler we take our lives ‘inside’ and start to declutter our home, removing possessions not needed anymore.
As poetic as this all sounds, to me personally, it’s about hanging at one of my favorite pumpkin patches, enjoying one of the fall fairs wearing a warm woolly sweater, smelling the crisp fresh air, like a renewal of spirit that washes over me with a brand new vibrancy.
And, YES! enjoying a seasonal pumpkin spiced latte ! 🙂
I am an interior decorator by trade so when the fall season hits you’ll see me at the local paint store picking up colored paint chips as I’ll instinctively get the urge to redecorate, gradually transitioning my home into a sparkly winter wonderland for Christmas!
It’s about all the new soup recipes I want to cook this season… picking apples off our apple tree in the backyard, and making apple crisp for our family Thanksgiving dessert!
In the fall I rejoice & celebrate the experience of giving birth to my first born child. My son hits a milestone soon, he’ll be 30 this year!!! Aww, I just love this season… it’s my favorite.
But beyond its beauty, fall invites us into something deeper. It whispers to the soul, asking us to shift gears, take bold steps, and live with a touch more passion than we dared hope for in the months before.
BOLD MOVES & BRISK DAYS – STEPPING OUTSIDE THE BOX
Brisk days and bolder moves isn’t just a poetic reflection of this upcoming autumn season. It’s a call to action.
It is a time for us to step outside the box, challenge our routines, and embrace that passionate fire within us, even as the world around us begins to cool off. If you’re looking for a time to take a risk, make a change, or simply live more fully, fall might be your perfect backdrop.
It doesn’t matter if it is a youngster heading to their first day of school, a student beginning their university studies, or even an adult embarking on a new career. Take Action. Perhaps it means improving one’s body image,—or losing weight when we head back to the gym for exercise. All of this takes focus and determination because it is something we have made a committed decision to do.
It all comes down to how badly we want to experience change, and….time is ticking.
Internally, what takes place in our mind when we experience a change is a nervous, unsettling energy that sets in whenever we make a decision to step out of our comfort zone—perhaps one that we’ve been ‘comfortable’ with all too long.
It takes a certain amount of courage to finally release the ‘familiar’ (something we have always known), which is a seemingly ‘secure’ situation, to reach out on a limb and embrace something brand new.
I see stepping out of a comfort zone much like experiencing a new adventure! That doesn’t mean jumping out of a plane 15,000 feet to the ground, or hanging off a rope on the side of a cliff.
Sure, that is massive adrenaline and a major accomplishment, but improving one’s life as far as personal development is concerned is a forward movement activity that can only encourage positive choices leading to fulfillment and empowerment—to excel and reach our highest potential.
In the context of fall, it might mean re-evaluating the parts of your life that have become automatic, conditioned. The job that drains you. The relationship that no longer nurtures you. The dreams you keep postponing. The creativity you’ve shelved in the name of practicality.
The Fall season whispers, “Listen to me,..Wake up. Take Action”
There is a crisp clarity in the autumn air that brings a new perspective. Take a walk in a park bursting with color enjoying nature, and you might realize that the box you’ve been living in is self-imposed. You see, you’ve done it to yourself.
Maybe it’s a story you’ve told yourself—I’m too old, too inexperienced, too comfortable, too late. But fall isn’t about regret; it’s about readiness.
Maybe you don’t need to blow up your life to live boldly. Maybe you just need to take one brave little step in the right direction.
But bold moves often come with messy beginnings. Fall teaches us that decay leads to growth; what looks like loss is often just preparation. Use that same mindset to reframe fear and self-doubt.
What if failure isn’t the opposite of success, but part of the journey towards it?
Living with Passion
Passion doesn’t always arrive like a thunderclap. Sometimes it’s a whisper you feel when you’re doing something that makes your heart beat faster—not out of fear, but because, deep down inside of your very core, you know it matters. You just know its right.
It’s saying “yes” to something uncertain.
The danger is that passion often gets confused with recklessness or frivolity. But true passion is rooted in purpose & meaning. It’s knowing that even if you stumble, you’re on a path that reflects who you are—not who the world expects you to be.
Passion also demands presence. You can’t live passionately if you’re always thinking ten steps ahead or stuck replaying the past. Fall offers a sensory-rich reminder to stay focused to keep you grounded.
The crackle of leaves underfoot. The smell of cinnamon in the air. The flicker of firelight on the walls in the arms of someone you love. These are anchors. They bring you back to the moment—which is the only place passion truly lives.
So slow down. Savor the moments. Dive deep into those empowering thoughts that light you up with an overwhelming sense of happiness and total fulfillment.
Here are some small yet powerful tips to help you shift into high gear this fall:
Fall isn’t here to lull you into sleep—it’s here to wake you up.
You don’t have to know how the story ends to begin writing a new chapter. Let this be the season you finally start something that you might have been contemplating far too long. Start the project. Start the healing. Start the new direction. Let the crisp fall air totally energize you and fill you with joy and fulfillment.
You’re not too late. You’re right on time. This is your time.
Live it boldly.
