Every year the arrival of spring reminds us that renewal is possible. After months of cold, dreary winter weather and shorter days nature begins its transformation. Trees bloom, flowers emerge from the soil, & the warmth of the sun encourages new life everywhere. Its a bright new day shining upon us that we savor while we enjoy the warmth of the spring sunshine.
“Spring is far more than just a changing of seasons; it’s a rebirth of the spirit.” — Toni Sorenson
This natural cycle of a spring renewal represents more than just a change in season. It symbolizes personal growth & a reset, reminding us that we too have the ability to recover from past dramas in the previous winter season so we can confidently move forward stronger than before.
Life often presents obstacles that challenge our emotional strength, havent we all experienced this at some time or another in our lives? Stress, uncertainty, and unexpected events can leave us feeling overwhelmed, literally knocking us off course which can take its toll on us, if we all allow it to.
Many people are experiencing high levels of stress due to the rapid changes that are not only happening in their own individual lives but the chaos in the world events. Economic shifts, environmental disasters, political tensions, the anguish of war, and personal struggles can all contribute to how we cope with stress.
During times like these, in any season throughout the year we can experience triggers, which are memories embedded in our mind that often can bring us back to sad past moments that can significantly affect us in the ‘now’.
Think back in your own lifetime to a moment when something devastating happened to you. For example, can you remember the day the world learned about the September 11 terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York City? I know I do, and Im not an American. I can specifically remember what I was doing, the time of the day I heard the news, what the weather was like, and the traumatic affect it had on me… on everyone.
PEOPLE CAN COME TOGETHER IN TIMES OF STRIVE
Despite the devastation of that day so long ago, along with the upset of the worlds events that we are experiencing right now communities and people do come together to support each other, while we all work towards a resolution.
When people support each other during a crisis and communities face adversity, something remarkable often happens. People come together, in a new positive light.
Differences related to race, culture or political views that had become a ‘sore spot’ for so many magically become less important when peoples lives or living conditions are at stake.
Individuals unite to support one another. Volunteers help rebuild homes after disasters, neighbors offer food, shelter and emotional support when people are going thru a transition. What events might you be experiencing in this spring cycle that may be negatively affecting your life right now? And how are you handling the situation?
WHAT NATURE TEACHES US ABOUT OVERCOMING OBSTACLES IN EACH SEASON
Nature offers a powerful lesson about our resilience and personal growth.
During the winter months, the world appears quiet and lifeless. Trees stand bare, plants go dormant, and the cold weather seems to pause growth. I don’t particularly like this season which is why I spend a great deal of time travelling away from this nasty winter weather.
Listen to me, …. beneath the surface, something magical is happening, a new, genuine spark is slowly but surely developing, not seen with the public eye and is hidden from plain sight.
Without notice, roots effortlessly continue to grow and strengthen, nutrients in the soil are stored ready to nourish a plant or flower, and life prepares for the next season… every year, automatically at the same time, without fail. Its a brand new cycle, like the sun rises and sets, the nite follows the day, or the tides rush in and out. Perfect harmony in a somewhat chaotic world.
When the spring season does arrive in all its grandeur, the transformation slowly, but surely becomes visible. New leaves appear, flowers boom, and wildlife returns. Damn! we can live again with a new profound lust for life and vigor we thought we might have lost along the way. Aww, but my friends, You still got it! it might have just been tucked away for a little while, a new positive mindset ready to spring into action.
Nature reminds us that difficult seasons do not last forever.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel just waiting to shine thru in your life! Periods of intense challenges can often prepare us for personal growth and the renewal that follows. You become aware of how much strength you actually have under duress, and that is a great feeling!
To reinterate, life will always present obstacles.
Get excited because challenges are good, you are progressing forward and learning valuable lessons. It would be bloody boring if everything was just ‘perfect’
These unexpected negative events are part of the human experience as we choose resilience rather than fear. We can focus on the problem, or concentrate on the solution.
The choice is yours my friend.
And just like nature, we too can recharge our minds, overcome obstacles and build resilience for a brighter new spring season.
